Special visit to see Kelsey and meet new family

Spending a lot of time lately with Chelly lately has made Maggie miss Kelsey so when she asked to go visit her birthmom, we were happy to go.  We were planning a trip to visit her anyway so we made plans to head to Wyoming just days after Kelsey's birthday.  It was a long drive and we had some numb butt syndrome times with Maggie when we had to pull the car off the road just to get out and walk around, but after driving through streams of little towns and being in the middle of no where for a long time we made it.
Maggie wanted to go camping this summer too so we thought we would kill two birds with one stone and go camping with Kelsey in Wyoming. Since Maggie doesn't do port-o-potties, and I didn't think I could get her to "pee in the woods" so we decided to do a KOA.

All I have to say is why haven't we ever done this before?  It was great.   We had nice soft grass for our tent to lay on and Max to crawl on.  We had a fire pit and BBQ, running water, toilets, showers, but most importantly a pool!  It was so nice when it was 90-100 degrees to have a nice clean cool pool to cool off in.  Maggie and Kelsey were in the pool three times a day.

Kelsey took us to see some of the beauty of Wyoming.  Who knew there was something other than the boring wast land along I-80.  (ha ha ha)  We saw some beautiful mountains and a beautiful waterfall!!

It was a nice hot day so we had a fun little picnic in the mountains and played in a little stream.

Funny No pictures of me.  Well that is how it goes.  Oh well.  We headed back to camp for some more swimming and then dinner.  We gave Max a piece of watermelon and put him out of the way and he was happy as a clam.  Then the flys came.  Oh my the flies were crazy.  Have you ever seen the commercials on TV about save the children (in Africa) and they have a child sitting there with flies all over them.  I have seen this in person now.  Funny thing is that Max didn't care just like the kids in the commercial. It was so funny and gross all at the same time.
Those are flies on his legs not watermelon seeds.

We had a very special dinner planned!  We were meeting some of Maggie's birthfather's family.  We were so excited and nervous.  J.C. died in a car crash last September.(2010).  We really wanted to meet him and had no idea he wanted to meet us and Maggie until it was too late.  That is another story.

We got to meet His dad Garret,
his brother - Brant,
  his grandma - Diana

We also got to meet two of his cousins Presleigh and Paige and their little families. (not sure why I didn't get the cousins in the shot and feel bad about that)I think Maggie was done with pictures or something.

It was so nice to get to meet them and learn about JC and see pictures of him.

This is Maggie's Birthfather JC (Jerome Curtis) Knight
Maggie was a little shy at first (totally normal for her) but once we found out that Garret had 3 dogs in the truck it broke the ice quickly and she wanted to get them water to drink.  They were very cute!

We feel so blessed to have got to know them and hope to learn more about JC through them.  When they left they felt like family.  We had a great time and wished we could have spent more there.  The kids were so good and other than the heat and a few midnight screams from Max it was perfect.   We took a few last pictures and had one last picnic and story on Kelsey's front lawn before heading out for the long trip home.

I think Maggie loved being the center of attention for a few days.  It was a very fun trip even with the long car ride home.  We made lots of stops on the way home to avoid Maggie numb butt syndrome.

Well worth the trip!! We love you Kelsey!
