It's Official

It’s official, Max is legally ours.

May 4th 2011 we woke up early (way too early) to get to head to Denver to  finalized Max’s  adoption.  We knew our way as just four years and one month to the date we made this trip for Maggie’s adoption day.  I love how all their stuff lines up and makes it easier for me to remember.  We knew to  get there early as well as we were late for Maggie’s due to secureity and a glitch that didn’t have us on the docket.   It was cool that it was at the same place Maggie and cousin Christina’s adoptions were done.  It was even in the same room as both of them and the same judge that did Christina’s adoption.

There were two other adoptions from LDS Family Service finalizing that day.  We were the second to go.  There was a moment of terror in my heart when there was a mistake on the paperwork that the judge had.  It showed our lawyer as the one adopting all of us.  We all laughed, said a prayer in our hearts, and pretty pleased the judge to still let us go through with it.  We were so glad to see the  judge laugh  and joke then let them given him a copy that the lawyer had with him that was correct.  Whew!!!   That was close!    When it was all over said and done we took some pictures and  waiting for some paper work.

We started talking to the other families while we waited about when they were going to the temple. We were the only ones going that week.   I don’t’ know how they could wait weeks, if we weren’t going to Utah to do it I would have scheduled the temple for that day/weekend.    As we drove home Mike and I talked about how it kind of feels a little anticlimactic at the court house.  For those not of our faith this is their BIG day, but for us, we have something coming that is bigger and more important than a legal piece of paper – The TEMPLE.  This was just the second to last step to making it truly final in our mind.   So last step taken, it’s time to head to Utah.
Happy Adoption Day Max.
