With Christmas coming we wanted to take Maggie to see Santa. We have read books about him and talked about him but didn't think she got the consent of him. Last year she had just woken up from falling asleep in the car. She didn't want anything to do with him.
I had hoped to not repeat that again this year. Maggie is a little shy at first. She likes to be the one to engage the situation. We chose to try a smaller setting then the Mall. Santa is good friends with our Chiropractor and comes and does a private meeting just for us. I was so sad that I had to work that day and couldn't get it off. Mike took Aunt Sherri for moral support. I talked Santa up all week and how fun it would be to see him. Maggie was excited as we talked. Once they got there though, she didn't want to get close. Luckily Santa remembered that Maggie can be a little shy and that a Big man dressed in Red can be a little scary. He brought out his friend, a little cat with a mouse that told the story of Twas the Night before Christmas. It moved and read the story. Maggie liked it and watched close and occasionally made eye contact with Santa.
He gave her a candy cane and a letter that told her what she was doing good and what she could work on.
She never got did get to close nor on his knee.
This was much better then last year, she would just cry if we even tried to get her to look at him.
Well maybe next year Santa!
